‘’In the Spring of 2018, I’d had enough. I was tired physically and emotionally. I avoided stepping on the scale because I didn’t want to know how much I weighed. I didn’t let people take pictures of me, at least not from the waist down. I had trouble finding clothes that fit in ‘normal’ shops. It was time for a change, but I’d tried changing before -fad diets, short-lived forays to the gym, equipment at home.
I finally realized that I need accountability, so I contacted Visser and had an intake talk. I was paired with Django and I haven’t looked back. I’ve lost 20 kilos and feel better than I have since I was in my 20s. I have more energy, sleep better, and have made lasting and sustainable changes to my eating and exercise patterns.
Knowing that someone was waiting for me at the gym (and that I’d have to pay if I cancelled at the last minute!) got me out of bed in the morning. Knowing that Django would look at me with sorrowful eyes and ask me, “What went wrong?” if I didn’t meet my weight goals kept me motivated to eat healthily.
People think they can just go to the gym and start working out and get healthy. Some people can. But I needed the expertise, experience, and accountability that working with a personal trainer provided. Django knows me, knows my body, and knows how to push me (gently) to keep me going. I’ve also worked with a few of the other trainers who are also excellent. I still have a ways to go, but I’m looking forward to meeting my physical and emotional goals in 2020 with the help of Visser.’’
